Khalil’s journey with Ride for Sick Kids WA (RFSK WA) is one fuelled by passion, dedication, and a deep commitment to supporting WA families with sick kids both on and off the bike.
When asked how it feels to be part of such an event, Khalil can think of two words: pride and humility.
I’m proud to be able to participate and raise money for such a worthy cause and humbled by the work that Ronald McDonald House Charities WA (RMHC WA) does, says Khalil.
We have the easy job of giving some of our time, effort and money. They have the tough job of putting the resources to good use and looking after the families that need their support.
Khalil first participated in RFSK WA in 2024, and his experience was so impactful that he’s returning for 2025 and plans to be involved for years to come.
One of the most memorable aspects of the event for Khalil is the strong sense of community that comes from sharing the journey with others.
The camaraderie and friendships made last year were priceless and I’m looking forward to rekindling them and making new ones in May this year.
Khalil's dedication to supporting WA families with sick kids goes far beyond the physical challenge of riding 500km. Through his company, Optim, he goes the extra mile by proudly supporting the event as a Gold Sponsor.
Optim’s support of RFSK WA not only helps to make the event possible but embodies a true commitment to the cause, that keep the wheels of RFSK WA turning year after year.
For those considering joining the Ride for the first time, Khalil stresses that preparation is key, recommending newcomers to participate in the training rides or, if that’s not possible, getting in some miles on your own.
Most importantly, he encourages new riders to relax and enjoy the experience.
Having raised significant funds for RFSK WA 2025 so far, Khalil encourages others to leverage their networks and embrace the power of asking for donations to support their fundraising efforts.
With RFSK WA 2025 just around the corner, Khalil looks forward to creating more unforgettable memories while making a difference in the lives of WA families with sick kids.
