This year, we caught up with Daniel Hadfield the General Manager for WA at Martin Brower, as he and his team prepare to take on the Ride for Sick Kids WA once again. From first-time participants to returning riders, the team of six represents a collective drive to make a difference for Western Australian families when they need it most.
A Team That Came Together Naturally
What began as a single idea quickly turned into something much bigger.
“Sally, one of this year’s riders, first came up with the idea as a way for us all to contribute, get fit, and dedicate our time and energy to a worthy cause,” Daniel explains.
“At first, three directors planned to participate, but after some thoughtful discussion, more team members including two previous riders decided to join again in 2026.”
The Road from Margaret River to Perth
The journey from the Margaret River Region to Perth Metro is as rewarding as it is demanding, combining a physical challenge with the chance to experience Western Australia’s stunning coastline alongside fellow riders with the same drive.
“Enjoying the scenic WA coast and countryside is a key part of this ride,” Daniel says. “Group cycling also fosters great friendships and teamwork.”
For the Martin Brower team, the shared experience creates a sense of connection that extends well beyond the ride itself.
Why They Keep Coming Back
Martin Brower has proudly supported Ride for Sick Kids WA since 2019, and that continued involvement reflects a strong connection to the cause.
“This unique experience is certainly physically demanding and requires considerable effort,” Daniel shares, “but the rewards are far greater. Knowing we’re supporting families in Western Australia makes the challenge feel much more worthwhile.”
It’s this sense of shared purpose that helps to drive the team forward each year.
Riding as One Team
Training for an endurance ride brings its own challenges, but it also strengthens the bonds within the team.
“We provide plenty of emotional support and encouragement,” Daniel says, “and make sure no one misses training!”
It’s a simple approach, but one that highlights the importance of accountability, camaraderie, and showing up for one another.
For Daniel and the team, completing 500km will be a powerful reflection of the effort they’ve put in together and a reminder of the difference they’re making for families supported by Ronald McDonald House WA.
Driving Impact, Together
With the 2026 ride just around the corner, excitement is building across the Martin Brower team.
“I’m really looking forward to getting on the road and making a difference,” Daniel says.
They’re riding for the challenge but more importantly, they’re riding for families who need support when it matters most.
