Riding for Impact. ARYZTA’s Longstanding Support of Ronald McDonald House

09 Apr 2026

For ARYZTA, supporting Ronald McDonald House is a long-standing global partnership commitment grounded in personal connection and shared values.

That connection with Nicholas Lao, General Manager of ARYZTA New Zealand, began many years ago through Ride for Sick Kids events in Northern NSW and has since grown into more than 15 years of volunteering and ongoing support across Australia and New Zealand.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to participate in a few Ride for Sick Kids events over the years, which really started my affiliation with Ronald McDonald House,” he says. “Since then, I’ve continued to volunteer and support the organisation for over 15 years, including now in New Zealand.”

“Having young children myself, I know how critical it is for families to stay together when a loved one is sick,” he explains. “Everything Ronald McDonald House provides to families during those times really resonates with me and my own family.”

Turning Values into Action

For ARYZTA, supporting causes like Ride for Sick Kids is about more than just a financial contribution, it’s about showing up and getting involved.

“One of our core company values is ‘Care,’” he says. “That means caring for ourselves, each other, and our community. We believe that contribution through action is the best way to live that value and genuinely make a difference.”

This hands-on approach reflects a broader belief that real impact comes from participation—either through volunteering or building awareness to causes they believe in.

From Global Commitment to Local Impact

As a global organisation, ARYZTA places strong importance on ensuring its support is felt within the communities where its people live and work.

“It’s incredibly important to see that support translate into real, local impact,” he says. “While we support initiatives across Australia, we’re also heavily involved in New Zealand, where we continue to partner with Ronald McDonald House to ensure support goes directly to the communities that need it most.

Joining the WA Ride for the First Time

Looking ahead to Ride for Sick Kids WA, there’s a strong sense of anticipation, not just for the challenge of the ride, but for the people behind it.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the people involved and hearing their stories, understanding why they’re part of something like this,” he says. “If it’s anything like the other rides around the country, it’s the relationships you build that really stand out.”

“And of course,” he adds, “there’s always a bit of professional banter along the way.”

A Commitment That Continues

For ARYZTA, involvement in initiatives like Ride for Sick Kids is part of a longer-term commitment to community, integrity, and impact.

“It shows that we’re an organisation willing to support through active participation whatever the charity needs, we’re prepared to do our part,” he says. “Events like this bring people together for a great cause and raise much-needed funds that go directly back into the local community. That’s something we’re incredibly proud to be part of.”

Looking Ahead

“I just want to say a big thank you for the opportunity to participate,” he says. “I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and being part of the ride.”
