“At the end of the day, it’s all for a good cause, you’re riding to raise money for sick kids and their families so that they can have a home when they need it most.”

Hi! I’m Ethan Lauro, I’m 19 years old.

When I was 3, I was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, which is a brain tumor for children. I received surgery to remove the tumor and chemotherapy for 10 months to kill any other cancerous cells.

During this time, my family and I stayed in one of the units at Ronald McDonald House in Perth and we lived there with other families whilst I was receiving treatment.

I got involved with the ride when I was little. I hosted my 8th birthday party at the Busselton McDonald’s restaurant and, instead of presents that year, I asked for donations to help support Ronald McDonald House. Together with my friends we raised $642.00 dollars!

That’s where I met John, he owns my local McDonald’s. He told me all about the ride and how him and his friends do it each year to raise money for RMHC WA.

In 2013, I was invited to see the riders embark on the ride and was so excited because I was made the unofficial ambassador for the ride. From that day on, every year I’ve gone to a location on the route to support them for all the amazing work they’ve done.

I have been involved with the ride every year since 2013, that’s ten years now. In 2023 I was excited to be named the OFFICIAL ambassador of that year’s Ride For Sick Kids!

In 2024 I am looking forward to taking part in #RFSKWA again as a rider.
